Attendance. Note: From last day:  Quick Review: Robespierre and the Jacobins Robespierre was a Jacobin , the most radical (left-leaning) political group during the Revolution. Extremist. The Jacobins wanted: A republic (no king). Equality for all citizens. Strict control of enemies of the Revolution. Major social and political change — fast. They were based in urban Paris , supported by the working class ( sans-culottes ). The Girondins (or Girondists) The Girondins were more moderate (right-leaning) revolutionaries. They also opposed the king but feared the chaos of too much change too fast. Wanted to spread the Revolution beyond France but keep more order at home. Review Intro Story - Page 88-92 Crossroads Text Review Q 1 and 2 Pg 92 Questions & Answers as a class.  Summary:  The Battle of Waterloo took place on June 18, 1815 , near Waterloo in Belgium . It was the final battle of Napoleon Bonaparte , the French emperor who had ruled much of Europe. Napoleon’s army of about 72,000 soldiers faced the Allied army led by the Duke of Wellington (around 68,000 troops ) and later joined by 50,000 Prussians under Field Marshal Blücher . Despite strong French attacks, the Allies held their defensive position on a ridge while waiting for the Prussians to arrive. The French made tactical mistakes, including early cavalry charges, and when the Prussian army joined the fight late in the day, the French were overwhelmed. Napoleon’s army collapsed, and he was forced to abdicate soon after. The Allied victory at Waterloo ended the Napoleonic Wars and over 20 years of conflict in Europe .
